Exploring the natural scenery of Bong Lai Valley

On the way to the various activity spots, travelers pass winding village roads that open up to picturesque views of endless mountains and crystal-clear streams. Along the way, they will see gardens and lush rice fields, accompanied by the cheerful sounds of clucking chickens, quacking ducks, and sometimes the lowing of buffaloes and other livestock. Before diving into the fun, travelers can take time to stroll around the village and the valley, soaking in the untouched beauty and vibrant life of this land.

Visiting the rice fields – Slowing down amid the golden season

One of the most beautiful moments in Bong Lai is during the peak rice harvest season, from late April to late June. The entire valley seems to be draped in a golden robe, stretching all the way to the foot of the mountains. Walking along the narrow paths between the fields, travelers can savor the gentle fragrance of new rice and the whisper of the wind rustling through the heavy grains. If they arrive during harvest time, they might witness locals harvesting rice using traditional tools. Though simple, this scene offers a profound glimpse into the hard work of farmers that brings life to each grain of rice on this once-barren land.

Farming experiences at Duck Tang Farms and Duck Stop

One of the main attractions of Bong Lai is the eco-tourism farms developed by local families right in their own humble gardens. With entrance fees ranging from USD 3.8 to 7.6, travelers can step into the shoes of a farmer and enjoy a variety of playful activities, such as:

  • Duck Tang Farms offers a highly entertaining “duck massage” experience, as well as fishing or catching fish in the ponds, riding buffaloes around the farm, and exploring the vegetable and fruit gardens. Travelers can also watch locals cooking, try preparing simple dishes, cut fruits, and enjoy a light meal right at the farm.
  • Duck Stop is famous for feeding ducks, riding buffalo across the fields, visiting the pepper garden, and tasting Central Vietnam’s pancakes (Banh Xeo Mien Trung).
  • Dong Soi Farm, with its sheep farm and farming activities, provides an ideal spot for travelers who love animals to explore and capture memorable photos.

After these thrilling moments, travelers can relax on a swinging hammock, letting their minds drift under the blue sky and fluffy white clouds. They can fully embrace the peaceful and picturesque beauty of the surrounding mountains and forest.

In particular, thrill-seekers won’t want to miss the “cycling across the monkey bridge” activity. After putting on a life jacket and safety gear, travelers pedal across the narrow wooden bridge. If they happen to fall into the cool stream below, there’s no need to worry, as swimming in the refreshing water is just as fun.
